At the beginning of the day, 5 chemists from UVA came and did some experiments.  With sodium, copper, lead, we saw how the smoke from the stuff is all sorts of different colors when lit on fire.  The 2nd thing we did is “solve” a robbery.  There was dirt from carter mountain, the playground at Peabody, Monticello, the downtown mall, and the suspect’s shoe.  The vial with dirt from Monticello turned blue, and the dirt from Carter Mountain turned an apple-juicy color.  When we put ammonia in the suspect’s shoe vial, it turned blue like Monticello.
