Today R L got her cast off! Her arm looks sort of weird.
Here is a picture of her arm. Before the day started, she went to the doctor and got it off.
In social studies, we did an activity where you were lost on a mountain and had one backpack (not per person), just one. In the backpack you had a large piece of aluminum foil, a large piece of wax paper, one two foot long woolen scarf, and three pine boughs nearby.
What would you do if you had this problem?
Teacher comment:
The activity with the aluminum foil, etc, followed a discussion about a new theory of Who Really Discovered America, this time the “Woden Lithi” theory. Ask your child about the petroglyphs in Canada…
The reason for the activity the blogger described above was to start a discussion about how similar or different we might be in thinking about and solving problems. We are genetically 99% the same (or something like that)— are we also similar in how we think? We didn’t get a chance to share our answers, but we will tomorrow.
What would I do???
I would use the aluminum foil to attract sunlight to start a fire – I would use the wax paper to collect water – I would use the pine boughs to catch on fire – I would use the scarf as warmth at night.
Yes – Ruth’s arm looks weird. I love the shot. It looks like she has a little bit of summer left over under that cast:)
Miss you all –
